John Freeman was born in Midland, Texas, and raised on a farm in the Abilene-Wylie area. While working at the Lazy T golf property, John fell in love with the game of Golf. John attended TAMU, where he studied Agronomy and worked part-time on the University course. John was hired at KWCC in 1976 as an Assistant Superintendent, which led him to assist in the construction of the Lake course and the Marsh Course before moving to Deerwood as the Superintendent. While at Deerwood, he gained Regional responsibilities over many surrounding golf courses. In 2002 John became a Sales Manager for Brookside Equipment Sales and an account manager for Golf courses in the Houston area. The position allowed him to participate in several John Deere World Championships with local customers and host a team in the Pro-Am John Deere Classic. John came to Golf Club of Houston as an Assistant Superintendent in 2018; in 2022, he became Director of Agronomy. Through the years, his passion for Golf has not changed. When he is not busy maintaining the golf courses, he enjoys spending time with his five children and soon-to-be eight grandchildren or fishing.
